Why, because of the high payroll. But isn’t baseball a business? They pay extra for the payroll to win, but is that a luxury ?
Goldman Sachs awarded their CEO a $53.4 Million Christmas bonus, do they pay a luxury tax for that now?
I don’t know, it just seems ridiculous they have to pay taxes on paying people salaries. Usually people get tax breaks.
Boston and NY are the two biggest baseball markets. There is the MLB revenue sharing. There should be no luxury tax.
